Shotcreting is a process where concrete is pneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface. Shotcrete undergoes placement and compaction at the same time due to the force with which it is projected from the nozzle. It can be impacted onto any type of surface, including vertical or overhead areas.
Shotcrete is very useful in hard rock mining. Development of decline pathway to go underground is critical for movement of heavy machinery, miners, and material. Shotcrete helps make these paths safe from any ground fall. In-ground swimming pools can use either the wet or dry application method.
Thicknesses depend on the structure and surface (surface prep is the key to proper bonding of shotcrete) the shotcrete is being applied to. Depending on the application 1/4 flash coat to 1 inch thickness can be the minimum.
Immediately after finishing, cure shotcrete continuously by maintaining in a moist condition for seven days or until specified strength is attained or until succeeding shotcrete layers are placed.
